Mite Levels
ADM Model
Rocky River Youth Hockey utilizes the American Development Model (ADM) created by USA Hockey. The benefits of the ADM approach include age-appropriate practice plans, more efficient skill development, more player retention and helping kids reach their full potential.
Playing Levels
Players can progress through a number of levels depending on when they start playing hockey. Here is a breakdown of the RRYH Mite levels:
Level 1
(4-6 year olds)
Introduction to basic hockey skills.
Necessary equipment provided to borrow for the season.
May advance to Level 2 or repeat Level 1 after season.
This is NOT a learn-to-skate class; players should be able to skate the width of the ice unassisted
Level 2
(6-9 year olds)
Introduction to the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM)
Players must provide their own equipment, including skates and a stick.
Previous Level 1 participation is strongly encouraged.
May advance to Level 3 or repeat Level 2 after season.
Level 3
(7-10 year olds)
In December, players get divided into teams, to begin the transition into the Youth Hockey Program, with their own practice and game schedule (days and times TBD).
Players must provide their own equipment, including skates and a stick.
May advance to RRYH or repeat Level 3 after season.
