David Nicholson Named 2024-2025 Coach of the Year
David Nicholson, head coach of Peewee 2 and Mite Blue 4, has been named the 2024-2025 Coach of the Year for the RRYH program.
We are thrilled to name David Nicholson the Coach of the Year as his dedication and commitment were instrumental to the success of the Peewee 2 team this past season. Coach Nicholson guided his team to the Peewee A2 playoff championship. They were the only #4 seed to win the playoff championship in the entire CSHL across all age divisions. In addition to their league playoff success, the team finished as runners-up at the Three Rivers Cup in Pittsburgh and won the Winterhurst President's Day tournament. Coach Nicholson also served as head coach for the Mite Blue 4 team after they transitioned to the RRYH program in December. David is one of our many coaches who go above and beyond to ensure a positive experience for the kids while ensuring they grow as both hockey players and young people.
David Nicholson was born in Cleveland and lived in the area his whole life. He graduated from Brooklyn High School where he lettered 4 years in hockey, 2 years in football and 2 years in baseball. David earned degrees from Polaris Career Center and from Cuyahoga Community College both for Automotive Technology. David is married with 4 children and has coached countless seasons of youth football, baseball and hockey. As a youth sports coach, David believes the most important thing is that the kids have fun. David is a USA Hockey level 4 coach and has coached for RRYH at every age group from learn to play through bantam.
